Smelly Co-worker

By:   Sandra Kim   on   May 05, 2012

This guy that works in my office wears soooo much perfume, I mean cologne, that I can smell him all the way down the hall. It’s affecting my productivity at work. LOL No, seriously, why do guys wear cologne at work??? Anyone???

Personally I love it when a man smells nice. Would you rather he smell bad. Nothin worse than that!

I agree Isabella. Nothing like a man with a nice cologne on. As long as they don't over do it.

They wear it for the same reasons women do.

Hold on a minute ladies. From a guy's standpoint, sometimes it just feels good ... tops off a shave or is just invigorating! There's a huge difference, though, for both genders, between discreetly applying a splash of cologne and bathing in the stuff! I don't know how many times I've had a woman pass by and I could actually feel a 'grit' between my teeth afterward, not to mention the sensation of breathing sand! I think we have offenders on BOTH sides of the aisle on this one.

I agree completely with you Fred! In most all cases, just a pindrop of it is plenty! I have allergies and someimes, just walking past someone or even someone being in the same room or building can set off an attack. Moderation is key for both genders.

I Agree with Isabella and Fred !! I wear Cologne for myself and nobody else, so I can look professional, presentable and I always get compliments from my patients they like it. They prefer someone clean that takes care of themselves and not someone that is going to be smelly and stinky. Yes always use cologne on Moderation not the hole bottle.

You should check with HR and the employee handbook. It probably has a no cologne or perfume provision.

Why don’t you get him a bottle of something you like and tell him you just love the way it smells.

Funny posts here! LOL On the serious side, however, I would get with the manager and ask them to please speak with your co-worker about his excess use of cologne...as delicately as possible. It would be much harder to talk to them if they stunk up the place other than due to too much cologne! LOL
