Music and fashion are two constantly changing art forms, both unique and personal in nature. Today's musicians are tied to fashion through their performance clothing, red carpet appearances and on-the-street fashion photos snapped by the ever present paparazzi.
For top stars Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Lopez, fashion is just an extension of their talent, personality and style: Beyonce's bold music statements go hand-in-hand with strong fashion choices in terms of color and design; Taylor Swift's chameleon-like looks pair perfectly with her ever-changing lyrics; Carrie Underwood's delicate and beautiful vocals match her lovely silhouette choices; Selena Gomez's messages of love flow through her hippie-like boho chic selections; and Jennifer Lopez matches her sexy lyrics with alluring fashion selections and street chic designs.
These ladies don't just sometimes hit the fashion high notes – they do it consistently – and their images land on countless magazine covers and best dressed lists. From the Grammys to the ACM's to Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards, these beauties are tops when it comes to fashion.
Four of these five music superstars have their own clothing lines. Beyonce created the House of Dereon with her mother Tina Knowles. She also has a junior line Sacha Fierce for Dereon and Dereon by Beyonce. Taylor Swift teamed with L.e.i to create a line for Walmart. She also has her own fragrance. Selena Gomez has a very successful eco-friendly collection called Dream Out loud for Kmart. The line includes feminine and boho looks that are classic Selena. Jennifer Lopez has had some fashion starts and stops. Her most recent collaboration with Kohls which was launched in 2011 looks very promising. Carrie Underwood is the only singer in this group that does not have a fashion line. With extensive touring, award show appearances and a new marriage to Mike Fisher, it looks like this star has a full plate.
Fashion Favorites
Each of these stars has a strong sense of who she is, which comes through in a big way through their fabulous clothes. They don't, however, get picture perfect looks on their own. Top fashion designers, makeup and hair experts and celebrity stylists all take part in making these musical maidens look absolutely perfect.
Clothing favorites for the stars include Jenny Packham, Zuhair Murad, J. Mendel, Gucci, Pucci, Cavalli, Michael Kors and Dolce and Gabbana. For footwear Nicholas Kirkwood, Christian Loboutin and Jimmy Choo top the list. Jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz appears to be everyone's favorite for bling.
