Natural Love Lotion Basics

By:   Lorna Bernard

Ever notice how many high-end companies hawk edible love lotions promising to add spice to your bedroom life?

Well, save your money. You don’t need a high-priced bottle of sweet-smelling goop when you’ve got the whole grocery store to browse.

If you're feeling frisky and a little adventurous, here are some homemade love lotion basics:

Oil glides, which is why it is the primary ingredient for most love lotions. Safflower oil is an excellent choice because it is readily absorbed by the skin and has a very light taste. Pour about a quarter-teaspoon into the palm of your hand; rub your palms together briskly.

You now have the purest of love lotions. (More about exciting flavor combinations below.)

Sugar sticks. Put a quarter-teaspoon of maple syrup or strawberry jam in the palm of your hand; rub your hands together briskly. You now have a sticky, tasty mess. Don’t use it as a love lotion unless you’re planning to shower and change the sheets immediately.

Avoid using honey. It is almost impossible to remove from skin, hair, sheets.

Avoid nuts of any description. (Do we really need to explain?)
